Open decks on Queen Mary 2
If fresh sea air is part of your ideal day, Queen Mary 2 offers plenty of open decks to enjoy it. From gentle strolls and quiet moments with a view to more energetic pursuits, there’s space to suit every pace.
Promenade Deck
The teak-lined Promenade Deck on Deck 7 invites unhurried walks with uninterrupted ocean views. It’s the only deck that circles the ship completely, making it ideal for stretching your legs. Each circuit measures just under a kilometre, with a marked jogging track for those keen to move a little faster. Pause to spot dolphins, passing vessels, or the ship’s distinctive Cufflinks sculptures — or settle into a deckchair and let the horizon do the rest.
Sun Deck and games
For sunshine and open-air relaxation, make your way to the Sun Deck on Deck 13. Just below, on Deck 12, traditional deck games such as shuffleboard and quoits await. This area also becomes stroll time for four-legged guests during Transatlantic Crossings.
Grills Terrace
Guests staying in Princess Grill or Queens Grill Suites can also retreat to the Grills Terrace, an exclusive aft-facing outdoor space on Deck 11. Calm and secluded, it’s a lovely spot for reading, relaxing, or sharing stories with fellow Grills guests on sunny sea days.
Pools and whirlpools on Queen Mary 2
With a choice of pools and whirlpools around the ship, Queen Mary 2 offers inviting places to swim, float, or soak — whatever the weather.
Pavilion Pool
Sheltered beneath a retractable glass roof, the Pavilion Pool provides a peaceful escape in all conditions. With a nearby bar and deck grill serving favourites such as freshly made pizza, it’s an easy place to while away an entire day in relaxed holiday mode.
Terrace and family pools
On bright sea days, the Terrace Pool at the ship’s aft becomes a sun-filled haven. The surrounding deck offers ample loungers and seating, perfect for lingering afternoons outdoors.
Travelling with younger guests? The Minnows Pool on Deck 6 sits just outside the children’s clubs, alongside a smaller splash pool designed especially for little ones.

Sports Centre
Located on Deck 13, the Sports Centre is ideal for a casual game of basketball or a friendly five-a-side match. Elsewhere on deck, you’ll also find organised activities such as archery and table tennis — a great way to try something new alongside fellow guests.
Deck games and golf
Golf enthusiasts can practise in the outdoor net, or head indoors to the simulator if conditions call for it. A jogging track circles Deck 7, while classic deck games including shuffleboard and quoits can be found around the ship.
Rules are displayed at each playing area, making it easy to join in. And if you’d rather enjoy the game without keeping score, that’s entirely your choice.
Indoor fitness
